What is Case size (0402 / 0603 / 0805) in electronics sourcing?
The standardized footprint of a surface-mount passive, given in imperial code (0402 is 0.04 by 0.02 inch). Case size is a hard constraint on a BOM: an alternate resistor or capacitor has to fit the same land pattern.
